Defrag is the place where the thought leaders of the internet
get together and discuss the latest innovative ideas about our online world. We
are proud to be given the opportunity to evangelize the skeleton portability
ideas that we've been pondering for a while.
The conference will be held in Denver, Colorado. If you are around, feel
free to stop by.
We are very happy to announce you that Social Beans made its first public debut on ReadWriteWeb,
the leading web 2.0 analysis blog. Our thanks go to Dana Oshiro for
her interest and the coverage.
Here is the explanatory video included in the article:
Social Beans Project is finally making its public debut. We kick the tires
here, with the hope that the community will love and own it. Because we can't
make any progress all alone.
I assume that you have already read our Manifesto and taken a look at our presentations. Hope everything is clear. If not, let us know from the email list.
We currently have 2 plugins, one for MediaWiki, another one for Wordpress. So we should be covering more than half of the open source social media publishing platforms. Similarly we've started supporting Social Beans on our own site, GROU.PS - you can see a View Source link at the footer of each of our 45,000+ groups.
This is a pretty good start. The first draft of the specs, version 0.1 is far from being perfect, but it gives a neat idea about our mission and it helps you visualize what's really going on here and where we are headed to. If you have time, please take a look at the draft of the future version 0.2 and contribute to it by sharing your ideas with us on the email list.
I've been managing many open source projects in the last 6-7 years - including the leadership of Apache Software Foundation's localization efforts in my native, Turkey. Yet, this is perhaps the most ambitious project I've ever been a part of. Enjoy,
